Well, I ran the GTP today for a little while in a parking lot and I have to say WOW! It's so fast it is hard to control. So easy to break the tires loose to drift it's ridiculous.
Everything was working fine until one of the rear tires exploded. The flapping rubber literally tore my Hercules BEC off the chassis (breaking the zip tie). Not only that, but it actually
ripped the heatshrink off the BEC! Luckily (and surprisingly), there's only a little scratch on the BEC output capacitor. Still works despite being manhandled and then thrown ~20ft away. Tough little buggers.
Also, I found that I stripped 1st gear spur. Seems the motor was not meshed perfectly or the mount was not as tight as I thought. So, I gotta replace that. Not too bad for a day out.
Going fast is fun, but it's just too uncontrollable. I'm seriously thinking of redoing it to run on 6s and going to motor braking (and going to single-speed setup). Should lighten it up a bit by using a smaller battery tray, smaller pack, and removing the brake servo/linkage/mount.
