Twin VXL is the better choice. I run the V-Twin but it is uncontrollably fast. It would perform better on the track on 2s packs. The 10L isn't a great choice, but neither is the Velineon. The 10L won't get 40mph on 3s. The 10L likely won't get 40mph period in an E-Maxx. I would need video GPS proof to believe it. Here is my V-Twin on 3s LiPos.

Make the emaxx 2wd and the 10l will do it! I ran a 2wd emaxx with a 380 6l on 3s lipo and it would do 40mph... 4wd may be another story, but a 2wd maxx is fun!
The VXL is made by Feigao so I would imagine effeciency's would be comparible.
It comes down to choices of longer rotor with more torque or two motors - I think you'd both agree they would be better off ($'s and performance) with one good setup.

I ran a single VXL in 2wd when I broke the front diff. It was miserably hard to control. Its fun to power slide but terrible to try and drive.
i just ran my emaxx on 24/66 with a 10l on 3s the speed was increased alot from my old setup 20/68, i only ran it for 12 minutes but i dont have a temp gun , i could put my finger on the motor for about 5 - 6 seconds then it gets too hot, does that mean that the motor is way too hot and i should gear it down or is it good ?
ok, i decided to move to 4s lipo , my setup will be an 11l motor , with 20,24 pinion , 62,68,65 spur but im not sure wat battery to get , will this battery provide enough amps ??
