Nitro or GorillaMaxx? - 01.11.2006, 12:54 AM

I've always wonderd how does a HV-Maxx on 6 or 7 cells stand up to a stock T-Maxx and other Niro trucks?

I love the torque of the e-maxx does Nitro have that? (yeah i know you guys are brushless!)

Nitro can't physically put out as much torque as brushless. A brushless motor's torque is proportional to the number of amps it pulls, so the more torque it needs, the more amps it pulls. At a certain point this would be limited by battery voltage drop or the motor's internal resistance. In conclusion, a brushless motor can put out more than its rated amount of torque.

A nitro engine can only put out its peak torque at a certain RPM, and even then it most likely won't put out its rated torque.

Even the titans in a stock Emaxx will leave on a Tmaxx, but after a couple of seconds the power and RPM advantages of the nitro will pull the Tmaxx ahead. I used to race against Tmaxxes on a regular basis and while i could get them on the corners they would be winding me in on the on the straights.

Work because i gotta, play because i wanna

People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

i have the HV-Maxx in my emaxx right now(going to upgrade in the summer) and it goes about 40mph with 14 cells and it has plenty of power for racing indoor in the winter
i like it but i want more power for summer racing

More power?? Why not get a 9L or something in that range? That should be a decent upgrade from the HV-Maxx.

A 9xl on 18 cell will blow a tmaxx off the track. It has goobs more torque. I had a tmaxx at one time. It was fun. The electric has more torque than a big block nitro.

Peace!

What motor is a good upgrade from the HV and what ESC needs to be used with it? I want the best one.

A good upgrade would be a 10L with 9920 with 16 cells or 9L with 9920 with 14 cells. These'll blow away most nitro trucks. Mike sells the L series with a 12020 esc for a very reasonable price. It is an offer limited for January only.
