Swap Neu motor wires for silicone? - 09.25.2009, 01:56 AM

Is it possible to convert a Neu with the standard stiff wires to have flexible silicone wires? Or is this asking for trouble?

I beleive the hardwires are part of the Neu motors windings and you shouldnt cut them.If that was what you had in mind.

Really Neu would have to do this for you. Each of the tiny wires have thin insulation on them that must be removed to get solder to stick to the copper. Neu does this on the last ~1/4" for you, but it might not be easy for them to do it closer to the can.

I see. I did not realize there were individual wire inside the big one. So, is it safe to bend the stock hard wiring to get it pointed the way I want? Maybe warm them with a heat gun a little first?

You can bend them, but try not to pinch them while doing so. If they are bent too much they are likely to break.

I bent mine by hand over the shaft of a screwdriver...it gave the bend a nice radius albeit kinda permanent
