WTB: Old computer motherboard -
10.14.2009, 01:55 AM
I was doing a little inventory and it seems I have enough spare PC parts to put together a PC, sans motherboard. Anyone have a mobo that supports the OOOOLLLLLD AthlonXP 2400+ CPU? Someone sent one to me a while back but many of the caps are puffed and I'm afraid would make the system unstable. Replacing them is a PITA (been there, done that). Cheap would be good.
Litterally just pitched one 2 weeks ago. Id would have given it to y. The hard drive crashed on the old girl and I just bought new to replace. It was just time. I had it sitting in the corner here for like 3 months and finally just yanked the hard drive and any other possibly usefull parts and pitched it. Wish i would known. I felt bad tossing it when it still worked. Just didnt have a use.
I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...
It doesn't need to have overclocking or whatever. It's just going to be used as a development web server. Might make it dual boot so I can run IIS/ASP/SQLExpress and Apache/PHP/MySQL.
I checked with my buddies, and all the oldies stuff have been scrapped.
Heck I still have a dual xeon workstation that I'm trying to get rid off. It's like a rock but it's considered old and scsi drives are considered stone age compared to the sas drives.
I'll have to check but I think I had one with a AMD K6 and the other one had a Athlon processor in it. I'll check tonight.

Thanks guys. Not a big deal if nobody has one; I just figured it would be better to recycle something instead of buying another mobo that will also end up in a land fill someday.
Ebay has a few boards that will work, as well as TigerDirect.
Brian I have an ECS motherboard K7VTA3 that has a 462 socket the processor that is in it says AMD Athlon, the other one is also an ESC but has the AMD K6 in a socket 7. Since I am not a computer guy (no really) I am not sure if this is what you are looking for or not. I was going to chunk them this weekend, but didn't so if they will help let me know.

Says Version 8.0 on the board between 2 of the PCI slots.
