SERVO Help - Custom Build - 07.26.2010, 10:01 PM

Hello,

I have a custom build that will only barely resemble the truck you see in the pictures below by the time it's complete.

Here are the specs:
-Motor = 2217 2y 640kv CC/Neu
-ESC = Megapower 120A
-Battery = 10s (two 5s)
-BEC = Castle Creations BEC Pro at stock 5.5V
-Tires = IMEX Swamp Kong 8.5"
-Weight = estimated 22-24 pounds

I will be installing TWO steering servos for four wheel steering. I've been advised that I need a high-torque servo.

1. Any recommendations on how much torque I should have? (Thus far I've been considering the Futaba BLS352 OR SAVOX SC-1256TG).

2. Which between these two uses less power?

3. Does anyone recommend any other servo?

4. I've been told two servos be linked via a y-hardness. How will they each attain sufficient power??

5. How do I connect these so they each do the opposite?

6. Does anyone see any problems with this steering system?

Thank you for your input!

(When I asked a servo question in my other thread, no one responded).

Hitec 1/5th scale may be up your alley. Unless you run a higher bec voltage.

Just install one front and rear 7980 on 7.4v - 600 oz will be enough

Reality is a 7950 at 480 oz would be OK to...

Why does this vehicle require that much torque??? Tires+weight??

Can someone tell me OR post a pic as to how I should hook up the extra LiPo battery?

Thank you.

Why an extra lipo? Can't you set the voltage on the Castle BEC?

Reno911 - since I'm using two servos, what should I set the voltage to if each receives 6V? Is it a simply 6+6 = 12V? Please keep in mind I'll be connecting the two via a y-harness.

Thanks.

Then set your voltage to 7.4 or higher if needed.

You don't need to supply twice the voltage, but it will pull more amperage. Which the BEC should be capable of.

One problem, in the specs on the first page, max voltage is 6 volts(5 cell NIMH). I know most NIMH are higher first off the charger, not sure how much or if the reciever is really designed for higher volts

Work because i gotta, play because i wanna

People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise
