IMO, the 1/8 shaft is too weak.

I understand the 1/8 shaft motor being a direct replacement and that's all good. But the 5mm pinions are readily available now.

The first thing I do when working on a setup is toss out the 1/8 shaft motor and gears, then in goes a bigger motor and better gears.

Sometimes the spur gear gets tossed out also, only to be replaced with Mod 1 gears.

We have to think "tougher" especially with the power levels we're putting down.

Weak stuff just don't hold up to extended use.

another ditto on the 5mm shaft. i have a 1410 going in my crt .5 and the last thing i want to do is break the motor shaft. my pinions are all also 5mm bore, but a simple bore reducer fixes that. it's the breakage i'm worried about.

They say a good mechanic only needs 2 tools - WD40 & Duct tape. If it moves, and its not supposed to, duct tape. If it doesn't move, and its supposed to, WD40.

So I have to ask, will the sc 2400kv motor (1415) and the MMP handle 6s? Loaded question, I know.

Lets say that I keep the entire setup under 6lbs and gear for 50mph max... And use decent batts, of course.

2400kv at 22.2v... 53k rpms... Might have to buy a 4wd traxxas product!

LincPimp:

So far its the same software in the MMP SC as the MMP just a new sticker (updated to the latest firmware;). I plugged in 6s and it beeped 6 times, it looked liked it armed but I didn't have it installed into anything to run it. Why the new motor Kv and 4s limit on the MMP SC combo? TRX NOOBs? The max motor rpm on the can is 75,000. Here is a pic of the 1415(top) besides a 1515.

Thanks bruce, good info. I am guessing with the correct gearing the combo will be fine on 6s, or maybe just 5s, to keep the motor rpms somewhat sane.

The 4S limitation is mostly to keep noobs from overgearing and damaging the ESC. :)

I currently run the MMM / 1512 (1800kv) combo in my Slash 4x4, geared (23/50) for 55 mph on 4s, very happy with how it performs

Just purchased the SCT MMP / 2400kv combo to try it out

Do you think I will be able to gear it for the same speed on 4s ?

I calculate it would require a drop in pinion to a 17

Will throw the eagletree on it and see how the two setups compare

Cheers

Howdy Folks,

Just received the SCT 2400 combo, motor looks nice (small next to my current 1512)

Just wondering what ESC settings (for both the 1512 1800kv and the 1415 2400kv) you would reccomend specifically

Motor timing
Start power
Punch control

I have been running the 1512 with punch disabled, high start power and 0 timing and love it

Cheers

What truck is this in crusey_aus?

I always set my timing to "none". Start power to low and the punch control you just have to play with. A lot will depend on what battery you're running.

Let us know how you like it... I'm curious how the cogging is.

Whoever is saying the Stampede 4x4 is heavy doesn't have an e-maxx lol. I think the truck is pretty light! Thinking about the SCT 2400 combo too.

Hi mate,

Its a Slash 4x4

Planning to do some data logging to compare the 1512 with the 1415 over the next few weeks, will post the info here

Cheers

+1 vote for 5mm

I'm running a Lehner Basic XXL with a 4mm shaft. I am using 5mm pinions and a 4mm to 5mm sleeve. Hell, I'm running a Lehner 1530-8Turn in my E-Revo 1/16th. I have 4mm pinions for all my rides ;-)

I bore all my 48p pinions myself. I put 3.15mm pinions in the chuck of my drill press, and I press them on to a 5/32" drill bit held in a vice.

If there is enough interest, we could do a 5mm shaft version.

Thanx!

Id buy a 1410 if I didnt have to buy the Esc. Also, be nice to have a higher kv 1415 motor only option. Both with 5mm shafts.

i'd say the option rotor should be 1/8 and the standard shaft 5mm. the motors are best used in heavier vehicles than 10th scale 2wd buggies and stadium trucks.heck i'd like to give it a try in a 1/8th buggy
