Heya Mike!
If your up to 26mph average with that relative short training, you sure have got a tallent! I think it would be nice to do some races, seriously, those are very decent speeds.
I'm good for about 8500 km a year now, but my personal record stands at 36,5 km/h over a 30 km distance. (driving alone though) Granted, i never train for high speeds, my goal is to go as fast as possible with a lowest possible heartrate. (efficiency) i did train 'higher' though, untill my heart-issues happened. My new 'efficiency record' was 29,6 km/h over 68 km, with an average of 127 heartrate. (not bad, considering it took me 172bpm for about 7 years back. These relative 'slow' trainings enabled me to hold 45 km/h (28mph) for a longer distance. I now can enjoy a 'slow' training over a fast one. Don't know if you've noticed how a lower temperature causes your speed to go down and heartrate to go up? I'm stronger during the summer, with a bigger explosion/powerburst potential.

My best ride was 75 miles with a 20 mph average. The highest i have had my Heart rate was 186 Bpm. I recently changed my cassette. I went from a 11/23 to a straight block 12/21. Were i live is pretty dam flat. Depending how I'm feeling & the wind, i can usually keep it over 20 mph.

Personal Best -
10.15.2011, 07:31 PM
I did my personal best today on the group ride, this was with the Traing ride or the A group. We were doing a Rotating Pace line. My ride
was 77.5 miles, & 3hrs & 35 minutes long. My average speed was 21.1 mph, with my max speed being 32.7mph. My max heart rate was
175 bpm, while my while my average was 149 bpm, & my legs feel great. My max cadence( rpm) was 122 rpm, while my average was 86 rpm.
I burned a total of 2,270 calories. I ended up with a total of 217 miles for the week. So i think i will take tomorrow off.

I'd love to burn those kind of calories. I dont keep up with it though. I have managed to take 285lbs and knock it down to 225lbs. Most of the time on a rigid singlespeed. I'll get 1000 miles + for the year. Average speed in the dirt is about half that if Im lucky.

Those are great numbers Hippie! did you managed to get some good miles ahead, in front of the group?
I just returned from a rather intensive 45 miles off road. We didn't push it as hard as last week, but the colder weather is killing me. (last week was about 8-10C hotter) I'm way better in the heat. my heart rate is lower, power output is higher. The cold just isn't my thing. Seems like my body is fighting to reach the right temperature. (i've got small sweetspot, with cold i'm shivering like a Chihuahua, and in the heat i'm like a tropical rainstorm) Still, i'm way stronger in the heat though.
I got a new group set for my cannondale, a nice sram red. I personally favor sram over shimano in terms of shifting precision. I'll get some pics of it online when she's finished.
The season has kind of ended for me; with all the rain coming, i start to run more. It's a tad more intense, but it helped me maintain my condition for riding. The combo works miracles for me. 2 runs a week, in combination with one slow ride for a longer distance.
