Fried Hv-maxx, what now... - 01.15.2007, 01:41 AM

The short story is that I fried my novak esc and I need a new set up. The 4400 was boring me bit anyway. Here is what I have -

MIP CVDs all round
Steel idlers
Alloy diff cups and diff cases
Alloy Bulks
2 speed transmission
RPM arms, towers and skids

Only been running 12 cell 4000mah nimh (still got 3 sets that are good)

I want a good reliable setup. Had the 9920 in mind, but not sure what motor to run, 7xl, 8xl, 9xl etc.

Which motors run well on a lower number of cells, 12 -14?

Is it worthwhile to get an extended chassis and take more cells? I mean I'm going to be spending on a new setup anyway.

Any suggestions would be great.

The 7XL runs well on 12-14 cells.

Call Novak up on the ESC...I'm sure they will help you out. How did it fry anyway?

Personally, I'd give the new HV4.5 a try...should be loads faster than the 4400...my 6.5 feels faster than the 4400, so the 4.5 should be waaay faster.

Ok, done some more reading, a I think the 7xl seems right. (thanks BP-Revo)

Would 20/66 gearing be a good ratio on this truck?

What dia shaft is the 7xl?

Do I need to order a UBEC if I only run 12 cells?

What sort of top speed would I be looking at with 20/66? The calaculator says 34 mph....

Thanks
