Twin 7700 Maxx setup? - 03.30.2007, 05:16 AM

I've got a stock Maxx on the way, so nice and light, I was wondering what twin MM7700s would be like 3s1p each side?

The truck would weigh stock. So I can't see it having much trouble?

Stocker is actually pretty beefy when it comes to weight! And twin MM7700 on 3s is gonna be fast, but will heat up the motors FAST. 7700*11.1 = 85470.

The problem with nitro's these days are that they arent brushless... LOL

I have run a dual mamba max 5700 in a G2R e-revo and it was a little faster than an HV-maxx. Motors actually didn't get too hot either:027:

I'm curious why you would want to spend more than necessary? Two 7700 combos is a good bit more expensive than a MM, 540 XL motor and UBEC. Not to mention, they have far less torque than you'll need to push the Maxx adequately.

That's possible, but I still think it's a bad idea....even moreso on 3S. That's a couple of things that Castle says not to do...don't put a MM combo in a 10th scale monster and don't run 3S on a 7700.

Yea I wouldn't do it...if I were to ever run dual Mamba's in a Maxx it would be two 4600's on 4S or maybe a two 5700's on 3S.

the 7700 isn't the motor to put in a maxx. Not in dual form. It hasn't got the torque to keep its head cool.

Have you got fans for the controllers and heatsinks for the motors? with tiny pinions and a large spur you can try..

Thanks guys, just looking for something different really than the usual XL if anyone has any suggestions.

I like to be different and already have 1 MM kit, found another one going cheap.

Maybe try 2 MM ESC's and 2 540 8S motors? With the right gearing, those would surely push the Maxx.

From what I've read it's not so easy synching two motors to a common spur and maintaining efficient running of both motors.
Good Luck

I don't think that you'll be able to gear the 7700s to run without thermalling the esc. I ran a 7700 on 3S in a T4 and wound up having to go with the largest spur I could get, with the smallest pinion I could use and get a decent gear mesh, and had to go with the smallest tires that I could find; all just so that it would stop thermalling. Perhaps you have more gearing options with the emaxx.
