Are Metal Trans Gear necessary E-maxx? - 10.15.2007, 11:12 PM

I used my mt brushless Emaxx (Fiegao, mama-max ESC, 14.4v) once for about 15min since I built it. I jumped a small jump and when it landed it made a horrid noise. Long story \short A tooth broke off on one of the gears on the inputshaft. The piece of the tooth mushed into my 1st gear while things were rotating, and both gears are ruined.

Does the stock or upgraded 3993x inputshaft by traxxas and stock 1st & 2nd plastic gears hold up? Is this reliable?

Or

Is the full metal set trans gears the way to go?

Thanks For the info in advance
