Windows Vista 64 Bit/Castle Link Solution Found! - 08.26.2008, 08:20 AM

After Several install attempts and reading "it won't work", I decided to research what was happening inside my Vista operating system.

Vista has such secure protection features when installing new software. Perhaps a little too much.

Each time I had tried to install, it would bail out in the middle of the installation, and uninstall.

I did 4 things to make this work. I'm not sure that EACH step is completely necessary, but I'm going to list each thing that I did.

#1. Download the installation file to your hard drive. On the Castle link download page, right click on "Download Now", then choose "save target as". Be sure you put it in a folder where you can remember it's location. LOL

#2. Open Windows Explorer, locate the CastleLinkInstall file that you just downloaded. Right Click on it and choose "Properties" from the drop down menu.

#3. Under the "Compatibility Tab", place a check mark beside "Run this program in compatibility mode for:", then choose "windows xp" from the drop down menu.

#4. At the bottom of the window, place a check beside "Run this program as an Administrator".

During installation, you will be prompted with a message "Can not verify the source of this driver, Do you want to install anyway?" Of course you do!

From this point, It's Plug and Play!

I hope this helps!

Patrick, I'm sure you've been asked "HOW" a number of times. Please feel free to pass this information along.

I am so happy there is a solution. My newest computer is almost always on. It's a Quad Core Pentium, 4 gigs of DDR Ram, 750 Gig Hard drive, Windows 64 bit, being viewed through a 46" lcd TV for a monitor.

Now I don't have to drag out my old Windows XP Laptop and wait 10 minutes for it to boot up anymore!
