neu issue

In my 8 with the takno kit and a tekno long shank pinion with a neu 1512 2.5,I was practicing on the track and after about 5 minutes it sounded like the pinion had loosened up,I pulled the body off and noticed the shaft of the motor sticking out the backside of the motor
I have raced this bugggy 2 weekends using the clutch setup,but I wanted to chage over to the pinion and get rid of the clutch.
Has anyone had this problem,is there anything I can do beside sending the motor back to stop this from happening?
