Electric X1 CRT ?s

Want to convert my CRT to a brushless set up. I have been out of the sport for a while. Can any one give me some opinions on what batteries speed controller and motor to get for it so it runs a little faster than it does now. Also how does the brakes work on these brushless setups? Also can I run a brushless setup with my regular batteries first then buy lipo down the road. Just started a track in my back yard last night
