If you are going to drill out the adapters anyway a better solution would be to get some K&S brass tubing one size too small to fit over the axle. Cut a piece long enough to fit inside the adapter then slit the tubing lengthwise so it can expand to fit over the axle. Then you can drill (or better: ream) the adapter to fit exactly over the brass tubing (which will not disintegrate over time).
Or you could wait for adapters that fit properly.
