Slash axle is not the same size as the crt.5 Its close but not exact. I am using a set of Slash adapters on mine and there is a good bit of play from the hole being too big.

Question:

If you use the slash axles though, which are 5mm all the way along, then wont they still fit the crt.5 knuckles and bearings, allowing you to use the slash 17mm hex adaptors? Or am I missing something important?

I've think about it, but the crt.5 use universal steel drive shaft, and on the front, the drive shaft pass thrue the C-Hub, and the Traxxas slash axle is mount on the plastic slider who'll never pass thrue the C-Hub of the crt.5.

If somebody would want a 2wd crt.5, maybe it was possible, because i'am sure that the rear slider of the slash could be fit on the rear of the crt.5, but not up front

Ah, I understand now.

It almost sounds like tamiya & their bizzarre use of splined axles that can only work with splined 12mm hexes, that than using a normal cross pin like traxxas for example.

You could find some .125 shim stock and wrap that around the axle to make it up to 5mm... Not sure what would be that thin commonly available, but I am sure it is available, maybe in brass or something easy to bend?

Wrap some aluminum foil on it.

Not sure James if i could find 0.125mm
But for aluminium foil, i've think to try it.
When i'll recieve the adapter next week, i'll try to wrap something around the axle to remove any slop.

My crt.5 is ridiculously fast and powerfull with the MMM/Neu 1515 2200Kv and 5s with 1/10 truck tire, so i can't imagine what it'll do with 1/8 badland tires on it

Don't know if a good aluminium welder could fill the hole in the adapter and re-drill it to the proper size?????????

II'll ask to my machinist friend.

The AKA adapter is made of 7075-T6 alum.

Anything can be done. Just make sure to get the hole dead center or it will wobble.

I have tried some heat shrink to get rid of the slop using slash adapter buts it was to think and couldnt get the adapter on. Ill have to try some aluminum foil like mentioned.

We still need some video of you monster crt.5. lol

Yah Fox, i'll make drill it on a lath, so it'll be realy precise.
And you just give me an idea about de heat shrink, i'll put heat shrink on the axle, mesure it and drill the adapter to fit over the shrink
And when the wheel start to take some slack because the shrink start to desintegrate, i'll only remove the old shrink and put new one

Thank you Fox

And i've no digicam to make video but a friend of me have one, so i'll ask him to make the video
