My battery bridge adaptor uses Deans just because that's what I used on the battery packs, but the connection between the bridge adaptor and the ESC, as well as the motor wires, will be using the 5.5mm connectors.

The only downside to using the individual 3.5/5.5mm connectors is that there is a possibility that you can reverse the polarity if you are not paying attention since there is no key.

Also, try to put the female end where there is power to help prevent accidental shorting on the frame or whatever. The male end should go on the load since it won't hurt anything to short those by accident. I also plan to fabricate some type of shroud over each connector to completely insulate them from anything else, yet still allow easy removal.
