Questions about XMODS (electronics & dying parts)...

Ok, I got a new XMODS Evolution Car, and am going to replace the electronics with a Spektrum SR3500 Rx, Novak Spy Micro ESC, and LiPo batteries. It already has a Stage-2 Motor which is pretty fast, but I might see if I can find a brushless system that will fit. Anyway, my biggest question is what to do about the steering...you can't just stick a standard micro-servo in there because XMODS aren't setup that way, so I was thinking about using an old micro-servo to power the servo-motor built into the car...

[1] If I take the wires off of the motor inside the servo, and connect them to the servo-motor in the XMODS, will it work correctly?

[2] Also, does anyone know if you can dye the parts on the XMODS? I just don't like the bright green suspension arms and light & medium gray chassis, and would love to dye everything black.
