brushless motor optios for trx rustler

So I have a friend who purchased a xl5 rustler and promply destroyed his esc by getting it wet multiple times. So he was incouraged to buy a castle sv2 5000kv combo. He runs 5000mah 7 cell nihm at this time.

Against my advice he didn't regear it and demagged the motor. I verified this by using a different esc and it acts the same way. So my question is what would be a good kv replacement motor? I have a limit of $40 for a motor and have been looking at the tacon 5000kv motor, but that has been out of stock for months.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
