receiver problem

hey guys idk whats wrong with my truck but i have alike a 10 foot range before it like cuts out. my receiver wire did get cut short by my dogs but it still comes out of that blue antenna. ive done multiple tests to make sure it wasnt the batteries cutting out, but it has to be something with the receiver. i took some extra wire and wired it up with the antenna wire to make it longer and it doesnt seem to help. not sure what to do besides buying another receiver.. so lmk what i can do guys!!
