guess it's true.. but I use to have a dual brushless that weighed close to 23Lbs.. I'm pretty sure brushless still rocks at 1/5th scale.. my 1/8 GST weights over 18.5Lbs.. But I really do like the Gasoline version RCs.. it's just so cheap to play with.. but brushless always surprise people :). I love brushless..

Don't be discouraged by others opinions. There are pros and cons to every conversion. It sounds like you want to do this no matter what anyone else may think. So if you have the $$$$ to put into it, then go for it. The F/D firehammer is cool and I am sure that they could do more to make it go faster if they wanted to drop the $$$ on it. After watching so many electric killers on robot wars I am sure that there is some versions of electric 1/5 scale vehicles that will do exactly what you are trying to accomoplish. I am sure that you can make that truck a 4X4 if you find the right materials to convert it. So good luck with that.

Electric mobility in general is the way of the future even if we don't want to admit it. Fosil fuels will not last forever no matter how much we depend on it now. With the size of 1/5 You could even develop a vehicle with solar panels onboard to charge while you run. That is the cool thing aboutthis hobby, we can design whatever we want to and make it work if we are willing to put the effort into it. Have fun and keep up with the posts so we can watch your progress.
