If you had to use a hammer, the bearing might not have seated correctly. Next time try aligning them with the idler shaft while inserting. Another possibility is that the idler just has a very close tolerance between the two surfaces. I don't own one of these personally, but I believe there is a ridge in the middle to seperate the bearings? Try applying force with a flat screwdriver in a circular fashion in between the two bearings. Then again, you might have jammed them in there pretty well.

*disclaimer~ I don't own these, so I may be incorrect!

Mike (or anybody else who has these), if you don't mind me asking, what's the weight on these?
