Anything else I need for crt .5 conversion? - 06.17.2007, 11:32 AM

I am ordering the crt .5 pro and I already have a mamba max and some lipos. I figure I need:

Motor mount
Hardened 5mm pinion
5mm to 1/8 reducer
My spektrum radio and a servo

Is there anything else I need? I want to order it all today.

Although, you may be able to cut the mounting tabs off the servo and use servo tape to secure it to the chassis. I personally don't like this idea (hate relying on tape) but it's an idea.

If you do this with the servo tape, check out the Parma servo tape. It is clear with red backing. In my experience, this stuff doesn't let go. Getting it off when you want to often requires the use of an exacto knife.

I would really love to find a way to make my 94359 servo work. It is so fast and strong, but I am also going to pick up a hitec 5245 just in case. I need to pick up another spektrum receiver and then I am complete.

The problem with trying to fit full size servos is not mounting it? it's the fact they are just to big depth wise by the time you clear the center diff the servo arm is hanging over the chassis line a 1/4-3/8 of an inch. I think BCE is working on a longer wheelbase chassis that can run full size servo's though.

Futaba makes a full size low profile servo S9550 that is looking very interesting if I have anymore servo problems that will be my next choice.:032:

The diff's in the CRT.5 are 1/8th scale size and metal in a 1/12th scale car they are holding up great no sign of problems yet I would recomend opening them up and filling them they were a little skimpy with the fluid from the factory. :017:

I like the new high downforce wing for the CRT.5.:004:
here's what you get with the CNC rear hubs new bearings and hinge pin with locknut's. The part's keep coming out from Jammin http://www.nitrohouse.com/options_jammin_crt_05.htm
They added CNC diff mounts and diff pins.

I must say Ofna and Jammin finally got it right the CRT.5 has been suported with part's avalibility from the time of releasing the kit and the kits are in stock at most retailers. now the full release of hop up part's.:005:

any idea on how much that chassis is going to be? I also like the ofna downforce wing. I will have to pick up a yellow one when they are out.

I got my crt .5 today. I forgot how beefy ofna and jammin makes there stuff. I am impressed. Is this car more fun as a brushless truck? It is so nice looking I almost hate to mess with it and just throw a nitro engine in it. But then I remember why I sold all of my nitro vehicles (tuning, noise in neighborhood, starting issues) and I am back to electric. I am kinda going back and fourth here.

A local guy modded his to fit a standard servo. I'm not sure what he did, but I would think that some basic AE style servo mounts would do the trick??

The trouble with using a full size servo is that it is too long and will have trouble getting the pinion in there (assuming your motor will be mounted on that side). Also, the servo horn will hang out further over the side. The only way I can see it working is if you either get an extended chassis or cut the servo mounting tabs off and use servo tape to hold it there - but then the servo horn is still hanging off the side...

Yeh, I played around with my airtronics 94359 and it is just too deep when you lay it down. I am going to pick up a hitec 5245MG I think tomorrow. Nothing like going from 200oz of torque to only 60oz. I hope these little servo's have some decent power still.

The chassis kit is $98.00 & is only 3mm longer just enough to fit a standerd servo in the steering area but you still have to use a mini servo in throttle if running nitro.

Are you guys using a spacer between the motor and the rc-monster mount? When I put mine in it looked like the pinion would nearly have to be pushed up against the front of the motor to make contact with the spur.
