I would try it, certainly would not hurt. Unless, there is a bad connection somehwere?
The only time i had this happen is when one of my cells came loose. But things got hot for me when that happened as well. Another thing to check is make sure all the wires are connected to the controller (orange, brown, etc), sometimes, those thin wires can break...that happened on a 15020 I had. Also see if that orange chip (the one you pull to program) is in all the way too. could get loose.

Worse case scenerio, depending on your batts you have, get a MM. 135.00 or so shipped from Mike. :)
