I use a porcelain plate to charge on and just leave them on my work bench until I need to use one.

Be careful about discharging them to half capacity for storage - I've just recovered from losing 5 lipos that were stored and found badly puffed when I came back (was gone for 90days). It was the cell on the top that puffed on all them, not sure what thats about.

I'll be storing mine with near full charge from now on.

I've read on a few places, that best to charge them to 50% for long term storage.. but not too many of my cells sit too long.. I try to use them all year round... maybe the balancer that you were using had a brain fart, if it's the same cell?..

I charge mine in a pyrex pot, and put a lid on it... but I have sand and a small fire extinguisher handy just incase something was to happen...

Thats what I had read too - these were 2S cells that had between 75 and 100 cycles on them with one being brand new - hadn't even soldered the deans on yet. I was planning on being gone for 30-45 days and was gone almost 90days. Even the new one was puffed. The cell pro balancer had said all were in balance after I charged them to 50% of what they had used in their prev cycle. No one (2 diff brands) has been able to explain why this happened and I feel if I had left them fully charged, I'd still be using them. They were stored at 68F.

After losing 5 batts that way, I use mine every month no matter what, even if its only to disch/chrg on charger.
