is the 1512 1.5d too small for the revo? at 3300kv that thing should be fast?

I think so...IMO you need the added torque of the 1515, I have never tried it, but if you do it and you find it is under powered than you will have to sell it and may lose money in the process. I guess it depends what level of performance you are ok with...

I run a 2000kv aveox motor that should be almost identical to a 1512 neu. My revo has the full tekno kit and I run 5s lipo. Gearing is 15/40, and I have the wide ratio gearset. Truck does almost 45mph, and has tons of power. I do have 2 clip on heatsinks, and temps are fine.

If you will lock it in second, and use motor brake the 1515 will be needed. With the 2 speed and gearing for around 40mph and mech brakes a 1512 (1800-2000kv ) on 5-6s should be fine. For 4s running you will need some really good lipos, and lower gearing with the 3000kv motor.
