connection question.

A friend handed me over his Kyosho Inferno US Sports addition he attempted to convert into brushless.....well he did everythng right up till the connections, he did Traxsas on his MaxAmps battery but left the standard Tamiya connectors on the brushless kit. There is an adapter to convert the Tamiya to the Traxsas, can I use this with the LiPo, the adapter reads something about "use only with low current applications" can I use this or do I nned to solder the proper connector?

I'd rather solder the proper connector and get rid of the tamiya plug.

^ +1. The Tamiya connector will be the weak link. With higher currents, it will heat up, and melt. And that heat means resistance, which means voltage drop, which means less voltage (speed) is getting to the motor.

Definately switch to some high current connectors. i melted tamiya plugs on my old xl-5 rustler....RUNINNG ALL STOCK!!

So I'll need to cut the battery connectors on the motor and solder the Traxsas ones on it.....man I suc at soldering......thanks guys.

If you need help with soldering, you might want to read this sticky. It takes a little practice, but something you'll need to master if you do a lot of custom work in this hobby, particularly electric.

Also don’t cut both battery leads at the same time!, you'll end up shorting out your battery..

Thanks guys.....that'll help, the Traxxas site really opened my eyes to what tinning is.

Yeah, get rid of the Tamiya plugs ASAP. Tamiya plugs should really only be used on cars with just the standard 540 silvercan.
