sorry desmo, i don't think i'll be able to finish the xt8 in a few days cause i'm for these few weeks and the rest of my time i need to spend with my wife and baby, but i think i can get it done within a week or max two weeks, so by that time i'll post some pics and tell you guys how's my xt8 doing!

I may be wrong, but it seems to me that your MGM controller came with double wires for running dual batteries and dual motors if you wish to use that configuration. If not then you can just cap the second set of wires leaving them dead ended. That is the only reason I would imagine having dual wires.

if you watch the castle video i posted a link to in the appropriate forum jerry, you will see/hear the reason for dual wiring. its so such a thick wire doesnt have to be used... 2 thinner wires are more flexiable too. also, unless its a very special esc, then it cannot control 2 motors. only dc motors (brushed) can work as ac motors need the motors to be "read" and adjusted that way, rather than amps/voltage. hope this makes a bit of sense.

It sounds good to me, although all of it is a little foreign to me as I am just getting started into the BL side of the house. I get the two small wires instead of one big one, but it just seems to me in 2008 that they can come up with a better way to overcome that problem. Trial and error I guess.

So you could not run two sensorless motors off of one controller? If the cheapo EVX could do it with the brushed 550's why not say a pair of Neu's on an MGM? Just curious what would make that not possible. I know one is a better setup, but lets say for shots and giggles that you had a 20lbs vehicle that needed two small motors to push the wieght around? I am just curious as to why one could not do that???? I am still trying wrap my brain around this whole thing. Thanks for the help.

ok, i am probably wrong, no expertise, only ever owned like 5 BL motors. this is how i understand it, please correct me if im majuorly wrong!!!!!


ok. brushed escs send the motor varying amounts of current through DC. this is what makes it go fsater/slower... etc... like a gate of a dam or pipe, the esc changes how much water (current) can flow through.simple.


brushless escs turn the dc supply from the battery into AC current. not exactly sure how, they just do. (this is as much as i know)... the motor has 3 phases? and depending on how the esc changes to make different poles, is how you get forward and backward. this is why you can just switch the 2 wires over and make it spin the different direction. the force (i have no idea here) of the electromagnetic field determines the speed???

anyway, the esc has special things in it which monitor these fields and can tell other parts where the motor is up to. (to make it work smoothly at low speed, like sensored motors)...

anyway, i dont think it is possible for an esc to monitor and control 2 seperate motors, even though it is sensorless, it still has to watch its rotation. unlike a brushed motor which is either off or on, and you can hook up many and it will still be off and on, this is much more complex to get smooth running motors. it would be possible to hook up 2 bushless motors but they would most likely spin at different rates and completely comfuse the esc!!!

so unless you have 2 banks of fets and 2 lots of sensors to monitor it i dont see how its possible, and having 2 sets is effectively having 2 escs...


anyway, thats the best i can do!
