Discussions I've read indicate the change was driven by ebay's insitutional sellers, not the small guys like us. Its apparent ebay could care less about the smaller guys - we're mostly nuisance and little money or volume.

Feedback def been abused in the past by both sides.

The smaller guys are what ebay was built on and the company wouldn't exist without them. Now because I don't buy sell a lot my rating is 50% when I had 100% with no neutral or negatives ever.

What really irritates me most is that the guy didn't even contact me to try and resolve anything, just left the feedback. So right now I am filing a complaint with ebay (not holding my breath) and not leaving any feedback for him. The other thing is that another bidder wanted to send me a check but I had paypal only and canceled his bid. I would have rather waited for a check to clear than to have this happen.

If ebay does nothing to remedy this I am done with them.

Some people mentioned having separate accounts. One for buying, one for selling. But that was before the changes. And I didnt really favor it anyway. You could still get screwed either way.

I've also seen alot of feedback removed b/c of back & forth slams on the feedback forum(respond to feedback left). Then you see "buyer/seller mutually agreed to remove feedback".

I've had a few close calls where I have had to delicately leave feedback for less than deserving sellers. Whenever I contact a seller with an issue I ALWAYS mention that I have no desire to leave negative feedback. I try to put them at ease even though I am usually very pissed off. It's a shame that I have to tip-toe around to avoid retaliation. I have bit my tongue many times.

When someone leaves less than accurate feedback it underminds the whole idea behind the "feedback system". But it appears that is what most of us have had to do to protect our reputation. We all know that's not fair but feel our hands are tied. I guess thats the lesser of 2 evils but still doesnt make it right.

I agree that there should be some sort of moderation for members wanting to leave negative feedback. But it would turn out to be alot of he said/she said and no way for someone "not actually involved from the start" to make a fair decision 100% of the time.

I have noticed alot of things changing on ebay. And NOT for the better it seems. I've also noticed my buying and selling on ebay lessening as well.

We will see ....................

I also hate their new method. I have never had a negative but have gotten 2 neutrals in the past 6 months. It has dropped me to 96.3% positve feedback.

Really cant even do anything either since you can only leave the buyer a positive. I had someone buy my brushless 8th scale and leave me a neutral because the wire (to disable bec) was pulled out. If they only contacted me I would of let her know.

Their fee's are also getting out of hand.

Pisses me off too, but that said, I've had way more unfair retaliation from sellers than I have had buyers leaving unfair feedback (and I run a business on ebay and sell more than I buy - I even just got powerseller status).

I sold a shirt once (only had one of them, last in stock, took a picture, put it up) and the buyer emailed me saying it was different, and it wasn't officially licensed (band merch), so I'd lied and sent the wrong shirt etc. etc. I eventually convinced her that nearly all bands have different designs printed on different brand T's, and because this one was a different brand to what she had already didn't mean it was fake. She still claimed that the back of the shirt had no print on it and negged me, we continued conversations trying to resolve it for a while and I offered a full refund if she could take a photo proving it, I never heard back.

Another thing is bad buyer feedback isn't all that useful unless theyre trying to sell and you see theyre untrustworthy. As long as they dont have a negative feedback score, you cant control if they bid on your stuff or not. I've had heaps of people bid, then looked at their feedback, full of negs 'oh crap' I'm thinking, but they pay etc and all is OK.

Also, dont bother putting neg comments with +ve feedback, that exact example is listed under the valid reasons for feedback removal.

With their new seller rules, what choice do you have but to leave a positive with negative info.

Not leave feedback? File a dispute? I dunno, all I'm saying is that it violates the feedback abuse policy so it will just get removed anyway.
