To quicken the acceleration set the spool up timing to a lower value. I would set the drag brake to off. All that does is heat up the motor and esc more than necessary. Also make sure you have the freewheel setting set to ON. I still think the brakes on the MGM are a bit quirky if you have reverse enabled so I would also recomend setting it to CAR forward only if you plan on using it on the track.

Another note... I personally dont think that 3s is enough for a 1/8. It can get the job done, but feels softer than a proper 4s+ setup on the thottle so I am afraid you may never get the performance you were hoping for without the voltage. Just something to consider.
