E-Slayer handling woes

So I got my new Slayer fully converted running a Neu 1512/2.5/D, 4S with a Mamba Max, and tranny locked in 2nd for motor brakes and reverse.

My first couple of shake down runs with this little rig and I’m pleasantly surprised by the speed; but the suspension handling is terrible. With the narrow wheel-base any attempt to corner at speed and it goes over. I spent more time on the lid then on the wheels. It seems really off balance while at speed when you roll off throttle. The rear is in a constant squat and when you let off the power, the center of gravity moves forward collapsing the front suspension and it wants to nose over while in any kind of turn. You actually have to adjust your driving and unwind your steering input when you roll off throttle to compensate.

I’m no suspension tuner and could use some input. Not sure if I should attempt a different fluid weight, change the springs, or take some other approach. I’m thinking in the front I need to at least drop down a spring rate as I have the adjusters all the way out and the front is still fully extended under normal ride height.

This is exactly why I think the Slayer, in its current form, is going to be a short lived phenomenon. With that short wheel base, and small tires, the driver is going to have to be good, and the set up even better. I have a feeling that in 6 months, there will be a lot of these for sale cheap, as kids get frustrated with them because they are too hard to drive (compared to extended wheel base monsters that they are used to). I don't see there being more than a handful of guys that have the ability to run these around a corner the way the real CORR trucks do it. Its really a feel thing, that I dont think one can get unless you have a steering wheel in your hand, and dirt in your face.

What about using 17mm hub adapters to widen the wheelbase then perhaps buggy rims and tires?Impakt rc has them under Slayer hop ups.

I am going to be running buggy wheels and badlands on mine. I was really disappointed with the slash tires and their lack of grip. I am hoping 4wd will be better.

you need to get ahold of steve slayden (traxxas' driver) he had his slayer out at the RC pro series at JCG's a few weeks back and he was HAULING with it, you need to get his setup he was spanking some fairly decent buggys out there and his didnt handle anything like you describe. His looked as good as a revo and a little more "darty" handling.

It sounds like you need to stiffen the springs all around. sway bars will also help but stiffer springs will help a lot.

I thought people were complaining of this same sort of issue with the e-revo. The sock springs were way too soft.

stock E-REVO springa are better suited to a slash, rustler or something along those lines! Couldn't handle a 1 foot fall without bottoming out!

Will buggy wheels (with 17mm hex adapters) clear the revo/slayer knuckles? The stock Slayer wheels are a bit unusual as they have a much wider diameter on the inside (to clear the knuckles) then on the outside. Consequently the Slayer tires have a wide diameter on the inside and smaller diameter on the outside to fit these stock rims. It’s a bit weird as you look at the tire and it has a very narrow profile (side-wall) on the inside, but huge sidewall on the outside.
