With the new lower case the pcb sits flat and there must be almost 1mm clearance between the fan plug and the case. So they cured that issue. The fan also has plenty of clearance between it and the top grille area on the case.

nice job for the case but the fan wire seem to have some issue again....

Ok, had a good look at the lower case and noticed that there is a small notch near the clearanced area where the fan/switch wires exit the case. I can only assume it is where the fan wires should go to avoid them being pinched between the lower case lip and the pcb.

So I figured out another place to route the wire that will require minimal case mods and will allow the use of some shrink to protect the wire. The wire is usually brought down between the two caps on the negative bullet side. If you add shrink to the wire it is almost impossible to get it to fit there.

If you move the wire over and place it outside the case slightly it will clear the caps and can go down between the case and the negative bullet. I would put some shrink on the wire and make a small notch in the case next to the bullet. Then there is enough of the wire left to plug it into the pcb and shape the wire so that it fits in the notch that is made into the lower case ledge (shown in the pic above)

I would at least remove the lower case and try to move the fan wire over to fit in the notch I circled a few pics back... That would be my only suggestion for the best performance...

Mine looks ok. It has alot more clearance than the old case.

It's not pinched yet but I'm sure it will be after a few races.

Finalized pics of the fan wiring... It is a snug fit with the negative terminal but it all fits and the shrink continues down the wire pst the pcb edge to protect it.

I hope this works, I am sick of opening MMM cases. I will say they are easy to open after the 10th time...

Thanks for the pics. That seems to be the best alternate route for the fan wires.

What's the procedure for getting a new case? I have a brand new V2 that I've updated the firmware on and I'd like to have a V3 case. Don

This is what Bernie Wolfard had to say in response to that very same question.

I just emailed and requested a V3 case for my V2, and they responded quickly and said they would send me one out.

i just went to there website http://www.castlecreations.com/ and click on the email address at the bottom and requested a v3 case ....be sure to leave your mailing address. The next day they responded by letting me know they were shipping me one out

i still think the fan plug is a weak idea.(they really need to improve on it ) when i get my replacements i will just run the fan from the aux port on the receiver. the problem with the switching fan idea is that if u bring your truck in after a few laps and the fan is not running , it could be either
1. not over 150deg
2. the fan/wiring is busted and not working..
so most would assume its not over 150deg and keep on driving but if the fan is not working due to damage , then you will just keep driving until smoke comes out . (exactly what happened to one of my esc's) ..and those fans are not very tough at all.

If you are going thru all the trouble to attach the wire to the rec, why not just add the shrink like I did and re-route the wire. The fan plug on the pcb has plenty of clearance with the bottom case now, unless the pcb breaks in half the fan plug will not touch. The fan wire is the only problem I see now. All of mine will be modded like this, and I expect them to work fine.

also, just switch the esc off and on. if the fans spins again on startup then its fine, if not then time to investigate? or just use a pocket temp guage!!
