Balancing Nue batts with TrakPower v-balance - 11.23.2008, 10:46 PM

How do I balance a NeuEnergy 5s battery with a V-Balance from TrakPower? Is it as simple as plugging the NeuEnergy's tap into the V-Balance?

The NeuEnergy has a 6 pin female tap. The V-Balance has an eight pin plug. Should I put the tap close to the positive lead Like the TrakPower tap. That way the black lead will be on the same pin?

Thanks

Well, neuenergy lipos use kokham taps, IIRC. And the v balance is setup to use fp adapter pigtails, not sure if they make one to go to kokham taps.

With some modding you could make this board work: http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...ducts_id/28927

but you also need the cable, which only appears to be sold with the polyquest board: http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...ducts_id/20719

I have everything listed, I can try to make it work tomorrow and let you know...

Question 11.24.2008, 10:30 AM

You were up late.

Thanks for the reply. The pig tail on the V-Balance can be unpluged. When I do that the balancer itself then has an eight pin male plug. I might not have to modify anything if I just knew what the pins were for. The Neu tap has six female pins. Can it be as simple as just pugging it in?

I was up to 3am, went to the Metallica concert last night and got home late.

Here are a few pics. I just plugged the adapter harness in and left the 8th pin (closest to the pos charge lead) exposed. Works fine with a 3s pack, I do not have a 5s pack to try.

Thanks. I'll try tonight without the adapter. I'll let you know what happens.

I wanted to go but family obligations got in the way. Were they good?

It was a decent show, quite long. Their light show was good, but it had a bit too much light shined in my eyes...
