It also takes hours to get them set up right to brake how you want, and then hours after each race to fix them again. Tedious stuff
From the information I came across I was under the impression that once you had them set there was very little maintenance involved compared to a cable system.
I suppose it depends on ones definition of "very little maintenance". I suppose it isnt as bad as the 2 or 4 mechanicals as the lines do stretch throwing it out of wack more. Bleeding them, pads wear differently, have to take the wheels off to adjust. My definition of very little is using the motor brake. Set it electronically on the ESC and boom never any more to do.
