I was told that the gears in the Slayer tranny are geared higher then the Revo tranny. Anyone know if this is true? If it is, I wonder if it would be beneficial to switch my Revo gears for the Slayer gears.
Has anyone tried this?

Yes it true to compensate for the smaller tires.

I just checked BrianG's speed calculator and plugged in everything that I currently got, and just switched the info about the tranny. I gained 20mph!!!

I don't think it's beneficial for you since you'll get better top end at the expense of low end unless you're racing on a huge track where you'll be WOT most of the time (or racing on oval tracks too).

I have so much bottom end, that im pretty sure I can spare it. Its controlable. If I get rid of too much I can always go back, or play with the gearing.

Did you lock the tranny, or are you using the 2 speed setup?

its great, with the slayer tranny you have alot more options for gear ratios

with my 1515 2.5d on 5 cell i had monster bottom end but was limited to about 35mph with the proline tires

with the slayer tranny the top end is about 45mph on 5 cell
and i have almost no mid throtle lift so it worked out great in my race revo.

the only down side is traxxas hasnt put out a diff for the slayer tranny

did you get the slayer tranny case as well? I hear a cd is comming.
What gearing are you using? How are your temps? And are you using the wide ratio?

With the 2 speed, you can use a smallish motor yet gear up for good top speed. The gear spread really helps. Of course, you need mech brakes and can't have reverse unless you use the weak reverse mechanism.

Currently i think it would be cheaper to bye the tranny off of ebay. But i totaly understand where you are comming from and i wil consider it. I listened to you about other stuff and dont regret it. You da man!
