One flat spot looks a lot cleaner than 2 Though there's nothing wrong with it per se.

Instead of having the shaft turned down to 5mm (maybe I like it thick ) I'm gonna try to set up my XLB with a 9mm wide plastic spur gear, along with a pinion of matching width.

Pinion is gonna cover the other spot.
