Am I missing something here? a Feigao 9L's kv rating is 2731rpm/v not 2300.

IMO, I say get another Feigao. As long as you setup was successful in the past, I would stick with it for the price. Granted, the medusa is a nice and stronger motor but also costs 2 times the Feigao.

No as far as the Neu motor you selected, I would at least run a 1509 series. I actually just installed a 1509/1.5D(4500kv) in my Rustler. I just received my CVD's to get it going so I'll up date on the status of that motor soon. It is a kinda high kv but its also a super strong motor and should have no problems pushing a rustler on 2 or 3s.

All you would need is a 1506 Neu for a Rustler, which can be had for $130 for a 1506/2.5Y/S at ImpaktRC right now.

Yeah, I bought a 1509 for my Rustler from ImpaktRC...Make sure you get the smooth can because the finned one doesn't fit if you are still using the stock transmission case.

Mod-1 is doable but it does limit the pinions that can be used...I find that the 64p gives more and better gearing options...I have had far more problems with the drive shafts when I used the Neu.

That 1506/2.5Y/S is also 2200kv, so it would be perfect, IMO.
