I wouldn't call it reliable ;) I wanted to buy tekin again, but from here, in europe it would be a disaster, 1 race, 1 month or more waiting nad 20-30$ shipping. I chose Neu and MMM and no problems at all. But it is a pity, rx8 seemed to be mamba killer, but even esc gets quite many failures, mostly because of electronics getting loose during crashes (sensor plate and so on).

Well tekin was my first "real" racing equipment and I can thank them for great time I had, but I just don't trust the motor anymore and with that in your head "it can die anytime now" you don't have proper mind setting for racing. So I have already neu for replacement and after winter I will buy any new neu that will come to market...

Looks like one dead ESC here. Simply wont "command" the motor, no chimes or turning the axle. Leds work fine as well as HotWire. Too bad they wont move my car

Going to see when the tekin support replys to my email. Wont be calling to their support from Finland

I have to report just another dead R8 truggy ESC - Motor 1700 set .... It only worked 1 minute on our local track before it stopped to turn the motor. I plugged in my MMM 2200 set and drove about 2 hours without a problem afterwards.

It is very disapointing to receive a set (with the hotwire link) in beta stage. (My CD included with the hotwire link was EMPTY !). I had to download the Hotwire program from the Tekin homepage ! Everytime I start the program an error message pops up that this version (the newest) probably won´t work with the esc and some values were out of range ... very strange !

Now I have a brand new set which doesn´t work and I have to pay a high amount to send it back to the USA . (I am from germany)

What can I do ?

Can this error be fixed with a firmware update ?

click on the "view versions" tab in the hotwire, and "update esc" this will reflash the firmwire on the esc....

it should fix the problem

Tekin is working on the problems they say on the rc-tech forum
There are some problems with the soldering they told.....
Hopefully my spare ESC is holding up this weekend so i can finish my race here in Holland.
My brand new "spare" worked for 8 minutes before it stopped working. I fixed it my self
problem was, when I twisted the case than it stopped working. I put some extra doubble sided tape inside, and problem solved
next time: Race Report

Fine ... so this is a hardware issue . So I have to send the ESC back to Tekin. This is very bad for european customers. Could you send me the link to the RC-Forum ?

It's not? I swear I had the Hotwire with my R1 Pro on my Vista 64 machine--may have been my old XP box, though.

Indeed, I'd like to know what soldering has failed so atleast I could try to fix it. I think Tekin should already know whats the problem with the ESC because all the RX8 stop working the same way now. Well not all but most of them.

Glad that they have 120 day warranty, because I haven't had any replies from their support yet. Only one automated message that I should wait 48 hours.

So any information about how to fix it without sending to Tekin. Just because it seems that their support must be doing something else than helping us out.

edit: As soon as I get some reply from support I will send it in. However if another issue occures I'm going back to Castle Products. This is just bs with all the dead esc.

Same here.. sort of...
I have probs with my RSPro. Seems I have a dead BEC. Emailed support a couple of times last week and still no response..
It would appear they've all gone on holidays... Have to say I picked a really bad time to make the jump to Tekin.
