The 4500mah Turnigy packs that I've been running are very nice. I like them alot.
One thing I've noticed about them, they seem to be improving on capacity the more I cycle them. It almost seems as if there is a break in period.
|
lol. I want to send them packing fast, but there might be a large MA cult and I fear for my life .
I was watching Sponge Bob with my daughter the other day and it was opposite day. So when MA said the Turnigy LiFe packs were reject, were they playing opposite day?
There's usually a coating on the tabs and they need a few cycle to melt that coating away. Not sure if they use it like they do with the lipos, but it might be a possibility. Have you done any 1C discharge to see the capacity of the pack?

I was just going by mah returned, but it's not accurate since I usually charge at 5 amps or above.
I can do a 1C discharge test and report back. Maybe even do that every so often and log the results. Get some trending results in the works.
Little late tonight, perhaps I'll do that tomorrow night.

How many times have you discharged and charged the pack? At 5C, what is the capacity being put into the pack?
The 1C discharge will basically tell you the real capacity the cell is at, it might be the same as the 5C, but it should be more accurate. Take your time, I'm not in a big rush .

What do you think?
Edit: The size for the 2700mAh is: 7.5mm X 43mm X 125mm.

Unfortunately that one would be a bit too big for my trays in a 5S config.
The custom trays I have are ~35mm wide, ~160mm long and unlimited tall (50-60mm max tho really)
I've been looking at some of the Turnigies, but they don't have any in the right sizes (it's still quite limited.) The 2250 cell you pictured would be perfect. Hell, if anything it could be longer.
Would also fit in my crt.5 nicely tho.
Any ideas on the MOQ or a very rough ballpark on price? I'm guessing the MOQ is rather large, maybe 30-50 pieces? Doubt its 10...

The 2700mAh would fit if you put 4 cells on their side and one on top . I sent an e-mail asking for prices, so lets wait and see. If they're too high, I'll beat them down a bit like I did with the 2 cylindrical cells . The MOQ is a bit high (I'm guessing, but it's usually 200pcs. for each capacity), but I might be able to work something out. I'll ask them if they can make a 10mm X 34mm X 150mm and see what capacity they'll come in at. Let me get some sort of pricing first for the soft flat cells and I'll ask about the custom cell later, I know they can do it.

It would, but then the voltage is too low for what I am wanting ;)
From my A123s, 4S lipo~=5S A123. 6S Life would be even better :)
The custom size would be absolutely awesome, but IDK how many would need a weirdo size like that, and I couldn't put 200 pieces to use no matter how hard I tried. :) If its a possibility, then awesome. I would think the cap should come out to ~3400mah then right? I use 8S 4000s now and its quite nice.

Ok, understood. I still haven't got the prices for the cells, so I'll have to make a phone call later tonight.

Ok, but I need to talk to them anyways regarding my 2 other LiFePo4 cells.
I'm flattered , but I'm as dumb as they come . I do appreciate your and many others' info and insight. I'm still learning and with more and more new things coming out, I'll probably be learning something new all the time.

You are smart enough to come up with new ideas. It's called being inventive.

I try. The best ones are stuck in my head. I might copy one that I had since Brasil and in the 90's I put it on paper. I'll make a new thread about it and I'll probably add some of my crazy car drawings that I still have. I'll try to get the others from my best friend, but he said he's not letting them go that easy and keeps telling me he forgot where he put them .
How are you liking the info on this LiFePo4 packs from Hobbycity? Have you seen info like it about the MA Green packs?
