Whats wrong with silicone Diff oil? its recommended by the makers of both my vehicles with gear diffs, and is available in a multitude of different viscosities ranging from primate pee to monkey mucus to tune the limited slip effect of the diff.

There is nothing at all worng with silicon oils. Some just prefer grease as an alternative, because it is easier to handle. Personally I like grease over oil, because it is easier to clean up for me. Plus grease seems to hold up better and last longer in my experience. Nothing worng with oils at all. To each his own.
