I have an IR gun too. Its a required tool, no toolbox should be w/o it.

Plus for $20, you can diagnose problems quickly, and you won't have to bother Patrick and distract him from his very important work of finishing the HV MMM for final release, among other things.

Temp guns can be used all over the place, including drivelines, slippers, pinions and many other places to see if there is excessive binding and wear.

Please please please finish the HVMMM? My motor temps are Room Temp, as I have no (decent) controller to run my truck.

Its making me, my Savage XL, my 10S/8S worth of batts, and my 1521 all very sad, snarky and sarcastic.
If you need beta testers.. I may know of someone, and its not Chris L.. ;)

@ Freeze: The HPI manual recommends the motor stay below 190F. Considering you are still typing with those fingers, you're prolly gtg.

The HVMMM is done -- just waiting for final Beta feedback. :)

What about in regards to the ESC temps with the fan kicking on frequently? What about the sealed endbell? Is that still a good idea Patrick?

And Brian, I swear to God, if you start another anti fan rant....

The fan temp is set pretty low -- if it's not running all the time, you are fine.

Thanx!

Thank you Patrick, I appreciate it. I'll get a temp gun enroute next week. I may take a few of the endbell screws out just to help the motor breathe a little bit

So i'm assuming my sealing of the endbell isn't gonna cause issues either?

My first 2-3 MMM's in the Savage Flux which failed all seldom had the fan kick in, the last one, the fan would come on after 20-30 seconds running and not stop for the duration, that was on 4s Lipo / 5sA123 runs.

That ESC never died and I believe is still kicking.

Yeah, I stick mine up to my wife and tell here she's hot! Hey, if it gets me a roll in the hay I can be corny all day long.

I also use it on my driveline for my Losi Crawler and numerous other places. The 20 bux definitely paid for itself.

So Patrick, top secret Traxxas hmmmm? You know you just opened up a whole can of "Patrick what is this new Controller" don't you?

Of course you probably like it as it feeds the ego huh, all us kids asking "when daddy Pat when?"
