But yes check the motor, the shaft will have a tick back and forth but should not have a 'clunk', and check for resistance spinning the motor shaft while pushing and pulling on it. Where is linc to take that out of context....

And check side to side play on the shaft, again should be VERY little shuck, or none.

What do trannys and Cross Dressers have to do with R/C? How much should one resist spinning their shaft? Such incoherent babble......

redshift-i rolled my car without the pinion gear on the motor down my drive at 20-25mph with no sound. but when the pinion is on, the noise appears but is a LOT more noticable wile holding the same speed or coasting, i can't even hear it when i'm on the gas or brake much.

Mr. Dude has to learn some of the finer points. Sometimes you have to get intimate with the inner workings, poke around a bit. Occasionally some sweet soft words can coax the problems out and if you're fortunate, it'll respect you somewhat the day after.

ok, my plans for today got cancled so i was able to take the monster apart. maybe you guys could spot something?







the only thing i found was what looked to be a few metal shavings in front of the piece of nylon (i think thats what it is) in the motor. you can see them in the second picture pretty well.

Everything looks normal, but I can not touch it to see if the bearings move, or twist the rotor to see if it is still secured.

And there is no pic of the front bearing as far as I can tell. Weird noises from the motor are usually caused by bad bearings I'm guessing.

the bearrings move fine from what i can tell, but that may be a differant story at high RPM's. the rotor is still attached and their is not much (1mm maybe) play front to back in the shaft.

i'm just going to get new bearrings and see if it fixes it
