I agree on replace for the Gorilla.
I stick with the higher for my project though.
Want extra ground clearance.
Don't really think ground clearance will be a problem. It's the same chassis braces as on the higher chassis - just the batteries are placed lower on the bottom plate. The top plate looks a bit thinner too from the pictures.
Top plate is 1/8" vs 1/4" on the original chassis. The battery area is scalable - the front stops have a couple rigid location options and the rear stop is secured through slots so the "compartment" can be sized exactly for the batts being used.

It doesn't look like length will be a problem at all.
But will it accept a pack that is 50mm wide or larger?
That looks really nice. Its also exactly what I wanted to do to my Maxx, lower the battery trays to the bottom of the chassis braces. More ground clearance than a Gorilla, lower cg than stock, best of both worlds. Is it just me or does that motor mount lower the motor too?
