When the batteries are outside it is burning hot, maybe hold it in my hand for 2-3 seconds only. However the last time the stuttering problem happened it was inside the house and my wife was home so I was not going fast at all.

I need some assistance with this problem because I have no idea what it could be.

Any and all input would be appreciated.

The odds of you getting two bum becs is low. So I would check for shorts or bad servo, fan, rx.

So if I get rid of the Ubec and install a receiver pack, could anything bad happen as a result of not finding the short?

It will probably, eventually fry the next weakest link in the circuit (the cap in the BEC was the weakest). Coolhandcountry has a good point. Are you sure the little soldered points on the back of the BEC didn't short it out.
