My stuttering Maxx? - 06.07.2006, 11:38 PM

Took my Maxx out today. Went through my first set of packs just fine. On my second set of packs (about 45 minutes later) I tried to accelerate but it just kept stuttering. Everything is OK if I just roll in to it very easy-like, but anything past half throttle it just stutters.
I made sure everything was connected propperly and hooked up where it should be and also recharged my first set of batts and tried them too but still the same problem.
I am running a 9L/9920 and an UBEC.
Thanks.

I had the same problem...
Did you flip over or crash a couple of times?
What i checked is the
-batteries if they were connected (battery bars)
-Check your receiver if is working correctly.
-Check your crystals in your receiver if they are working.
My problem was the receiver and crystal..
Hope this helps

What kind of batteries you running?
did you crash it or anything before it started?
Try a rx pack to.

I had a similar problem, is your motor/esc hot? I went with a 1950 and my esc ran alot cooler, and as for the motor, it doesnt even get hot! Nothing above warm.

The problem with nitro's these days are that they arent brushless... LOL

I did one minor cartwheel but no big crash and it ran just fine after that.
It stutters on both sets of batts so I don't think it is the batts, could be wrong though.
Receiver is new, not the first time running it though.
Have not checked the crystals, I will do this tonight.
Motor and esc were normal, barely warm.

Maybe the crystal? I'll find out tonight.:032: :032: :032:
Thanks guys, any other suggestions?

Try a Reciever pack instead of UBEC.

Thanks guys, it was the UBEC! It looks like it fried a capacitor in the top left corner. That is the second one that I have had go bad on me. Why would it do that? Don't think Mike would warrant a second one eh?:032:

I did not have a receiver pack readily available so I used a little 2cell 600mah LiPo that I had laying around and everything worked great. Hope I didn't ruin anything with the 7.4v of that LiPo.:013:

I had a problem like that once. My ubec was grounding out. It has little points on the back where they soldered it up. It will poke threw and touch what ever it is on. I have also see one do this when my batteryies shorted out on the chassis as well. Just a few things to check. I wrap mine with some foam and tape now. Have not had a problem with it since.

Holy cow it's doing it again! I put the new Ubec on and the little capacitor is starting to burn through the heat shrink again. What could be causing this?
Thanks.

If it was a futaba, they can handle 8.4v. if its a JR some have a bec circut that limits voltage to around 5.5v, so they would be ok. the jr 310 synth is the exception, it has no bec so it could be hurt. not sure about air. or hitec or KO

Work because i gotta, play because i wanna

People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

I'm not using the ubec yet and I have the same problem.

Should I check all the solder points or do you guys think it could be an overheating problem. When I check the batteries they are burning hot. However the 1950 motor and the bk 20150 is still cool. I have a fan on each.

Hey Crazy.
Were you responding to my last post? If so, I'm not sure I quite understand what you are saying.
Thanks.

You may have a short, sevro, speed control, fan, receiver also check all your wires for bad spots. Did you put something on the back of the bec this time so it doesnt short?

You have one heck of a current draw with that huge motor your batteries are going to get hot. What batteries are you using? What gears are you running?
Your the first person I saw that is using a 20150 how do you like it?

I am using 12 gp3300 in series until I get 6s lipos. As far as the gearing it happened with 52/20 and 46/20. Usually it only happens after a few minutes but on Sunday it happened going very slow after only a minute or two. I know I was going slow because I was testing it inside the house because of the rain outside.
