The length of the wire is determined by the frequency of the radio transmission. Higher frequency=shorter antenna. Since Spektrum uses 2.4GHz, the antenna can be quite short. As a matter of fact, Spektrum says you can cut the antenna (to a precise value) without appreciable loss. In my Revo, I have the antenna base mounted to one of the stock brake "caliper" holes and the mast doesn't even exceed the top of the stock rollbar. Range is about as far as I can effectively drive it (500-600 ft at a guess).

None at all. In fact the range is much better than my FM setup ever was. I posted this in another thread, but here's a pic of the receiver in the RPM box.
