on the quarks, there's a tread going on about thermal problems, do the 65amp and 80 esc's have those problems or is it just the 125 amp?
IMO, a fan inside the BL motor is not a good idea. For one thing, it's the coils, which are on the outside part of the can, that need to be cooled. A fan outside the case would be more useful. Second, for a fan to work, it has to have air (duh), which means openings in the motor for dirt to get in. Not a big deal for a plane or boat really, but for a vehicle on a dirt track with pebbles, dirt, and small rocks flying around, I dunno...

The thermal problems on the Quark are due to the inadequate heatsink. Just adding the new heatsink Mike has in the store will help tremendously. Then, if you are anal about cooling, you can remove the rubbery thermal pads and replace them with AS thermal epoxy.

Just my $0.02...

If on grass, then no, it shouldn't be a problem. Just the thought of something getting in the motor where the rotor is spinning at 30,000 rpm or faster makes me cringe.

The MM ESC is 1.9" x 1.3" x 1.2", which is also listed here.
