you can get jpegs out of cad programs, they are all different though. Just gotta know the correct command.

Jolly, if you haven't already, do yourself a favour and check out Alibre Design. They offer free 3D CAD software that is really easy to learn and comes with OK tutorials to get you going.

After a few hours of learning I made this design.

Also, EMACHINE SHOP is very easy to learn and free! After a few hours I made this:


The other good thing about emachine shop is that after you design a part you can send the file to RC-Monster Mike and he might be able to make it for you, like he did for me.

Emachineshop is even easier to learn, but not as powerful IMHO. The main problem with it is that your designs are restricted to maching by Emachineshop themselves because the software exports 2D only. Unless someone knows of a workaround? Maybe Mike has a way of converting the format...

Well, I didn't export the file from emachine shop its self because of that reason; I just sent him the whole file that I guess he opened in his emachine shop. I don't know, I'm not a computer wiz, did do something different than exporting directly from the program?...

Mike might have done a redraw in another app from looking at your design. An experienced CAD designer with prior experience of motor/diff mount design I guess could do that fairly quickly.

The Emachineshop tutorials are very good. Some of the skills you learn in it carry across to Alibre too. :)

The thing is that he told me he had no way to verify if the mounting holes to the chassis were correct because he did not have the truck I designed the mount for any more. So, he must have seen the 3D model or something to machine it, not just from memory. Also we really didn't discuss any of the measurements other that the motor screw spacing. But, you could be right, I really don't know. ..

Maybe someone else will chime in on this...
