I called to ask last week and they couldnt tell me an estimated time. Just that it was on the list of to do's for the MM. It didnt sound like it was going to be in the very near future. More like months rather than days or weeks. I could be wrong though. Just a cutomer service guy I was talking to.
I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

And when we are running 4s lipo we also are normally using a lower kv motor than you would on 2s or 3s. The end result is that the 4s setup is actually easier on the MM.
But as mentioned, you need to bypass the on-board bec to make it work.

Exactly, a 7xl has a lower kv rating than the mm motors.

That mean i can use 4s LiPo (16.8v in charged) with UBEC, 7xl motor and MM controller without smoked (smoked is possible still, i know it.) ?

I'm running 5s lipo's in mine(21volts full charge) in mine with no troubles, I haven't had a chance to run the 7XL for a long time and see how hot it gets, but its has wicked power
Work because i gotta, play because i wanna
People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

Excuse the minor thread highjack. Is there a "tame" motor you could pair with the MM to give comparable performance to the original Titans? Would something like a 9L with 3S work? Ideally would like to avoid having to use a UBEC. Looking for reliability and runtime vs. insane power.

I ran 3S on my 7XL, and that's good fun. Light, nimble and about the same power than the titans.

Thanks, exactly the kind of info I was looking for.
With the stock Titans it will flip on it's lid from a standstill...plenty of power for my purposes.
Do you think a 9L or 8L would be sufficient in torque and not have a heat issue if I gear it down...not for top end speed. Speaking of that, what gearing should I go for....12/72?...and what is a good source for 5mm pinions?
By the way, my E-Maxx is pretty close to bone stock...except for wider offset wheels which really cut down on rollovers. The biggest bummer for me and the kids is swapping out batteries every 10 minutes...if they last that long. Would love it if I could see 20-30 minute runtimes. Which 3S batteries have you had the most success with? Have you ran a pair in parallel for extended runtimes?

I would go for a 7Xl, not a 9L

Thanks. Looks like the 7XL is capable of generating about 20% more torque than the 9L at the same efficiency....should run cooler. It also has way more headroom...if I do decide to push it harder down the road.

Cool video. Man... that thing has got a ton of power, maybe even too much... if there is such thing, lol. :005:
How do you think that set up (MM esc, 8xl, ubec, 5s lipo) would do in a 1/8 scale buggy? I was thinking of running the same thing except with 4s, but 5s would definately be a possibility. Any thoughts?
Sorry for the thread hijack. :013:

Umm.. Absolutely insane? :P
Its hard to tell from the vid, but I almost never got to WOT on that. Anytime I did the front end came right up. It would help if I had low-ballooning street tires on at the time, but seriously, its got over the top power really.
If you put that on a light 1/8 scale buggy, with far lighter tranny (cent diff) and far lighter tires than those beadlocks w/ mashers....scary.
The 5s is almost too much for me actually (w/ that motor,) it def would be in a buggy. I previously had used upto 16 cells on the MMax, was wanting to see if it would do ~equiv lipos, and bought my first set for the 5s. I had heard & watched many times the power diff between NIMH and lipos, but i was a bit unprepared for that amount of power. IMO its on the edge of detonation on the ESC. I think the best bet would be a 4s setup, plus it makes weight balancing much easier. Otherwise a high-voltage setup, with low Kv motor would be awesome.
