They were puffed and way out of balance. I tried some slow charging but the cells were taking charge at different rates, so I quit...

Nah, never bothered. But I do have a few trakpower and enerland cases hanging around. If the cells fit in I could put whatever in there.

I have replaced tabs before, if you want to send what you have to me I can give them a try...

The problem is that the pairs of cells were discharged at different rates, but all over their burst ratings. At least that is what I believe. So even if they were to work again, I doubt that they will ever hold the same capacity and would go out of balance very quickly, and may not even work...

Surely they are great packs, but seems like there are more good cell manufacturers than just Enerland.
I just paid some small attention to the details, what I found is FlightPower, PolyRC & Hyperion's packs all have capacity numbers accurately match Enerland's cell series, say 30C XQ series, 700/1200/2000/3200/4500 mAh,or twice the number for a 2P config. But NeuEnergy has 800/1500/1800/2100/2500/3300/4100/5000, none of them match Enerland's cell.
Also there are some Chinese LiPo maker do their cell's having tabs on both ends.

Enerland do offer quite a few different cells. I have found that the 5000 30c cells are offered in different lengths, a short and a long. These cells are the same with all of the mfgs that offer them.
As far as the tab on each end goes, I pulled my first rhino pack apart last night. It certainly has the enerland style cell layout, but is assembled differently. None of the std enerland markings on the foil either.

Question time...
Who do these belong to? Real name is Michael Chin...
And the lower pack is a great example of a puffed cell. I do not think I have ever seen a cell that puffed...

Yeah, looks like a losi pack, has a losi balance plug (another style plug???, shoot me now!!!) and an EC5 connector, and is 4s. I am guessing that he wants a 3s pack, but I am not sure what balance connector he will want, as I do not have the losi plugs and an not sure where to get them from... Actually he may be in luck, I think I have some sort of equinox adapter with the losi plug on it, or maybe a tp plug will work, pin spacing looks to be the same...
He also sent me a maxamps 8000 4s pack... I vaguely remember him pming me but I cannot remember what he said, and no instructions in the box either Plus that thing is WAY out of balance, with some of the cells over 4.2v... Does this guy have a balancer? I think he needs one, or some lipo charging "tips"...
Thanks Chris... And what is GSRCRC?

I can pm him tonight and confrim - Garden state rock crawlers...
Losi pack is whatever you can do IIRC - Don't know anything about the MA pack...
He seems pretty switched on I think he bought the Losi like that for peanuts...
He actually got someone to sell him a broken MMM for 25 and then sent it to castle - asit was a v2 they replaced it for free!!!
Any word on the axles?

Still looking for some axles for you...
The Losi should make a decent 3 pack. Looks like the other cells are ok, all are under 3v per cell, but not below 2v per cell so they should charge back up. Might have some loss of capacity though.
I have the maxamps pack balancing out right now. It had voltages of 3.97, 4.35, 4.25 and 4.14... It will probably take all day to get down to sub 4.2v on that one paralleled pair. Looks like he charged it without a balancer, as the pack voltage was almost at 16.8v. Good thing they can take a bit more voltage than they say, but anymore and it may have popped... Plus he may now have a weak cell in there... God I hate 2p packs with issues. I will most likely have to separate all 8 cells and make up 1p packs and then test them in something, just to see if the cells can handle load. Then I get to weed out the bad cells and then make something out of them, all while not destroying the tissue paper thick tabs.

You're doing good work Linc. A handy guy will always have a place in any economy. Now, a handy-capped guy.............

Thanks Harold, but I do not really see why a handy guy who wears a cap would be any different to a regular handy guy? Maybe he could stand out in the sun for longer?

Sure, do you want to send them to me and I can examine them and see what can be salvaged?

Metallover, I just recieved your lipo. I do like your wiring very "inventive".... Also thanks for the free coke coupon!!!
Should be able to get it correctly assembled this evening and get it back in the mail. Do you want a new deans plug and 13 gauge wiring? Not sure if you wanted to keep the sub 14 gauge wiring and the hxt deans knock off that is on it. I do not currently have any jst females... I do not use jst on anything so I never bothered to make adapters...
